This is one of our favorite beaches...Mile Long Beach. And yes, it's a mile long beach....wonderful for walking. Why? Well, driftwood scattered everywhere, wild pink roses growing along the dunes, big waves...and it has these gorgeously preserved old shingle bath houses at each end of the beach...
Actually....it used to have these gorgeous shingle bath houses at each end of the beach. Last July, when we were there these weathered gray buildings were g-o-n-e. Poof. Vanished without a trace. And some new generic buildings with green metal roofs were up instead. I refused to even dignify them with a photo.Only a lawn of green grass lay where this gorgeous gray building once stood. I was very v.e.r.y sad. : (
BUT....we still love the beach. There used to be a couple of porch swings hung along the board walk as you go down to the beach, and those were gone, too....sniff. What's a romantic mom to do? What's happened to preserving the charm, gentility, of boardwalks and beaches...and old weathered gray bath houses??
BUT....we still LOVE the beach...even in the mist...all seasons....any time! : D
